The project in Mahatinikhola, located in ward 5 of Rajpur Rural Municipality in the Dang district of Inner Terai, Midwestern Nepal, is situated 450 km west of Kathmandu. The area is home to 82 households, primarily comprising the marginalized Magar population, totaling 449 residents. The initiative focused on developing a child-friendly, safe, and secure school infrastructure equipped with essential resources such as furniture, books, and educational materials. Additionally, through the Educational Environment Improvement and Community Enhancement Program (EEICEP), the project aimed to empower the community by encouraging ownership of local issues and promoting sustainable solutions. This approach included intensifying educational activities, conducting capacity building sessions, and providing support on health issues, which were expected to foster positive changes in economic, social empowerment, and educational environment improvement.
The project directly benefited 89 students and 7 teachers of Shree Jana Jyoti Primary School (Nursery to Class 5), as well as 408 individuals from 65 households within the Mahatinikhola community, contributing significantly to holistic community development and enhancing educational opportunities.
Goat husbandry, established in cooperation with the school management committee aimed to generate income and create employment opportunities for the community. This small-scale enterprise, in the long term, provide financial resource base for both community members and the school.
