The project in Sundarbasti, located in ward 7 of Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality in the Chitwan district, is situated 171 km west of Kathmandu. The area is home to 450 households, primarily comprising the marginalized Gurung, Magar, Chepang and all other major ethnic population, totaling 2700 residents. The initiative focused on developing a child-friendly, safe, and secure school infrastructure equipped with essential resources such as furniture, books, and educational materials. Additionally, through the Educational Environment Improvement and Community Enhancement Program (EEICEP), the project aimed to empower the community by encouraging ownership of local issues and promoting sustainable solutions. This approach included intensifying educational activities, conducting capacity building sessions, and providing support on health issues, which were expected to foster positive changes in economic, social empowerment, and educational environment improvement.
The project directly benefited 312 students and 12 teachers of Shree Shankhadevi Basic School (Nursery to Class 8), as well as 310 individuals from 50 households within the Sundarbasti community, contributing significantly to holistic community development and enhancing educational opportunities.
