The project location, Rajpur Rural Municipality, Ward No. 3, Karangakhola, lies in the western part of Deukhuri Valley in the Dang district, Lumbini Province of Nepal. This region is characterized by its rich ethnic and cultural diversity, home to indigenous Janajaati communities, Brahmins, Chhetris, and other ethnic groups. Shree Shankhar Primary School, established in 1985, is situated in Karangakhola village, Ward No. 3 of Rajpur Rural Municipality, approximately 442 km from Kathmandu. The school currently serves 105 students (54 boys and 51 girls) from the surrounding villages of Gunana, Chakle, Makuna Bayakhola, and Karangakhola. It offers primary education from nursery to grade five, supported by a dedicated team of five teachers and one school helper.
The existing educational environment of the school is far from child-friendly. Despite their structural weakness, these buildings remain in use, posing significant risks. The toilet facilities are inadequate, and while the school technically has access to drinking water, the supply system is non-functional. Beyond the weak and insufficient infrastructure, the school lacks adequate furniture and educational materials, limiting learning to the government curriculum.
Low community awareness about the value of education and irregular communication between teachers and parents highlight the need for a collaborative effort among the school management committee, teachers, parents, and the wider community to foster a sustainable and improved educational environment.
The proposed project aims to enhance school infrastructure while improving the educational environment and fostering community development. It will actively involve existing male and female community groups, leveraging their participation as a cornerstone for long-term sustainability. This collaborative approach ensures that the community takes ownership of the project, promoting lasting improvements in educational access and quality within the village.

Specific Objectives

A. Establish a safe learning environment by constructing essential child friendly school infrastructure. This includes facilities that ensure the physical safety and comfort of students and staff, thereby creating a conducive atmosphere for learning and growth.
B. Enhance access to knowledge, skills, and resources. These resources are intended to foster self-reliance, resilience, and adaptive capacity within the Supar community.
