The project in Kuleni, located in ward 17 of Devchuli Municipality in the Nawalparasi district, is situated 166 km west of Kathmandu. The area is home to 300 households, primarily comprising the marginalized Magar population, totaling 1500 residents. The initiative focused on developing a child-friendly, safe, and secure school infrastructure equipped with essential resources such as furniture, books, and educational materials. Additionally, through the Educational Environment Improvement and Community Enhancement Program (EEICEP), the project aimed to empower the community by encouraging ownership of local issues and promoting sustainable solutions. This approach included intensifying educational activities, conducting capacity building sessions, and providing support on health issues, which were expected to foster positive changes in economic, social empowerment, and educational environment improvement.
The project directly benefited 87 students and 6 teachers of Shree Saraswoti Primary School (Nursery to Class 4), as well as 293 individuals from 50 households within the Kuleni community, contributing significantly to holistic community development and enhancing educational opportunities.
A small-scale poultry farming enterprise was established to generate income and create employment opportunities for youth, in cooperation with the school management committee. This will eventually provide a sustainable financial resource for the community and the school.
