School gardening training is an educational initiative aimed at equipping participants, especially students, with essential gardening skills and knowledge. This program seeks to promote sustainable gardening practices, nurture environmental stewardship, and encourage healthy living habits through hands-on learning experiences.
The training aimed to empower participants with the knowledge and skills to establish and maintain a flourishing garden within their school grounds by offering practical guidance on selecting suitable plants, adapting to local climate conditions, and employing sustainable, eco-friendly gardening practices.
The training was held on the 16th and 17th of December at Shree Saraswoti Primary School in Kuleni, bringing together a diverse group of 30 participants. The attendees included students, teachers, School Management Committee members, and parents, fostering a collaborative learning environment. Mr. Shiva Raj Poudel, a seasoned agricultural trainer with 25 years of experience in both seasonal and off-seasonal vegetable farming, delivered a thorough training to participants on advanced farming techniques, efficient garden management, and sustainable agricultural practices. His extensive expertise and practical insights empowered participants with essential skills to enhance agricultural productivity while fostering environmental sustainability and promoting healthier, more nutritious food consumption.
